The Cool Thing About Birds

Talking to trees? I’m aware I’m a lil irregular

Here’s the cool thing about birds…

They can fly to the tops of the tallest trees

They can fly down to the ground

They can land anywhere in between

Whether they’re soaring or settled

Their place is natural

They refuse to be confined to a single position

They’re always in flow

Wherever they are

Is where they’re meant to be

Even when they’re at eye level with the trees

I was sat meditating on a rock on the top of Northstar

I was pretty high up with a vast view in front of me

There was something about being eye-level with the tops of some of the tallest pine trees…

They look so tall from down below

I realized I’m always looking up at them

But from where I sat

It was like we were finally equals

When I spoke to them as equals

That’s when I got the answers they had to give me

Looking up at them as they towered over me

Then I couldn’t hear what they had to say

It was when I saw them as equals

Saw them as friends

That’s when I could speak to them

And hear when they spoke back

They never wanted to be up above

They always wanted to be met at eye-level

They couldn’t help the growth they’d gone through

That was only natural

It was just on me to get eye-level with these big trees

To stop comparing as I stared speechless

And start engaging with them openly, freely

The birds do it all the time

So why not me?
