I am good

You are good

The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday exposed me to this quote:

The human being is born with an inclination toward virtue

Musonius Rufus

I align with this belief (although I'm willing to admit that the 1st Century AD Roman philosopher definitely said it first).

In my purest state, I don’t believe I, or any other human being, is evil.

I believe my natural instincts are to love, give, grow, and flow.

I believe I’d prefer to create, rather than destroy.

That said, I believe that "hurt people hurt people."

Trauma can lead us to commit harmful acts with the intention of self-protection.

I believe that this trauma can be multi-generational, as we inherit trauma from other people.

But, as a blank slate, I believe my True Self is good.

Sometimes, my fears, insecurities, and inherited beliefs just get in the way.
