You better read this!

Seriously, you don’t wanna miss this one

Whenever friends bring up this newsletter in real life, the conversation often starts something like this:

Friend: “I see you’ve been doing a lot of writing recently. Admittedly, I don’t read every one, but I read every couple pieces…”

Me: “What do you mean you don’t read every one? I thought we were friends. I thought you cared about me. Shame on you! I’m outta here!!!”

Just kidding. Let me clarify, I have zero expectation that anybody read any of these pieces.

I enjoy the art of writing. I’d do it even if I were the only audience. It helps me think clearly and service my creativity. But I figure, since they’re already written, I might as well share them with people I care about (read: you). I see it as one of the ways I can contribute to the collective. But that giving carries no expectation.

Read 1

Read none

Read ‘em all

Read 20

Read ‘em on your commute (in fact, read ‘em aloud on the subway)

Read ‘em in the bathtub (that’s spicy & relax-y)

Read ‘em while walking (but keep your head on a swivel)

Don’t read ‘em while driving (that’s just unsafe for everyone on the road)

I don’t mind

You do you

You won’t hurt my feelings

But if I see you in-person

Please don’t be afraid

I won’t start quizzing you on yesterday’s lesson1

Just do whatever you’re inspired to do

Even if that means unsubscribing & never reading again

1If that comment made you quiver, that’s unresolved trauma from that surprise quiz you failed in pre-algebra as a 6th grader. Speaking from personal experience here…
