- Why do we create?
Why do we create?
A question for the creator in all of us
Why do we create?
Because we’re not afraid
We’ve decided that the risk of criticism doesn’t scare us anymore
(Maybe it does still scare us a lil… but not in the way that it used to before)
Now we see that the joys of creation far outweigh the pain of its destruction
We finally see that stalling for perfection means that we risk creating nothing at all
Why do we create?
Because we have to
We say it’s a conscious choice, but that’s primarily lip service for the onlookers
The choice to create is one that’s been made for us
As much as we think our minds run the show, our draw to create shows us that our command center sits at our heart-center
There is no other option than to release what’s inside us
To hold on to it any longer would be to service separation over satisfaction for the sake of protection
To refuse to create drives a wedge between our lives and our soul
And when we begin to create
We’ve finally decided
That we just can’t live like that anymore
Why do we create?
Because the act of creation is an act of communion
A joining together of what’s living on the surface and what’s brewing beneath it
An act of taking the imaginary and making it physical
The art of bringing into the world what’s seen in the soul
A painting, a portrait, a sculpture, a post
A relationship, a family, a baby, a home
Creators bridge the gap between the human and the spiritual
Creators drop into the stream and share what they pull outta there
A dress, a play, a movie, a song
A dance, a score, a business, a culture
Creators are the doers who push their vision forward
Why do we create?
Because we have to
Because we need to
Because we’re products of creation ourselves
So… why do we create?
Because it’s only natural
